social awareness and the need for sustainability, more and more companies are beginning to pay attention to the environmental and social impact of their operations.

Monika Czokajło, Director of the ESG Risk Office at BGK, emphasised that in the face of the abuses associated with the green
transformation and heavy regulatory requirements, taxonomy becomes crucial. It is a set of definitions of what
we mean by sustainable projects, which aims to enable us to speak the same language.
The taxonomy does not impose obligations, but defines what can be called green transformation. At the same time
Czokajło points out that treating reporting as an obligation to be ticked off does not allow for a full
understanding of the scale of the sustainability challenge. That’s why BGK is betting on education,
to help SMEs understand ESG issues.
Tomasz Wisniewski, ESG Strategy Coordinator for the Capital Market, WSE, points to the perspective of the
capital market. The largest companies are covered by reporting obligations, and around 150-200 companies very
doing this very well. Also important is the passive pressure created by rating agencies, which collect data and
provide to investors. Wisniewski stresses that it is important to read the signs of the times correctly and to read the
the situation in a win-win perspective. The number of sustainability regulations has increased
by 100 per cent in the last six years, which gives hope that general solutions will emerge. The WSE wants to
build a national ESG hub with data that will be taken into account when lending.
Mateusz Kowalski, Director of the Sustainable Development Department, PKO Bank Polski, points out that ESG
is the world we live in and will live in. The winner will be the one who builds on this trend to gain a competitive advantage in the
market.

Industrial Development Agency: The concept of sustainable development and ESG applies not only to the
financial sector, but also industry and business. In the case of businesses, it is important to act in a
a sustainable way, but also with future generations in mind. Nowadays
times, investors are increasingly aware of corporate social responsibility and are looking for companies that
are committed to sustainable projects. Consequently, companies that do not integrate ESG into
their strategy may face problems in obtaining financing or business partners.

ESG and sustainability are becoming not only a challenge, but also an opportunity for business and industry.
Companies that engage in projects related to renewable energy, environmental protection or
corporate social responsibility, have the opportunity to attract new customers, investors and
attract new sources of finance.
In summary, ESG and sustainability are not just fashionable buzzwords, but concepts that are increasingly
increasingly crucial for business and industry. The proper implementation of sustainability policies can
benefit both businesses and society as a whole. The taxonomy serves to ensure that
everyone speaks the same language, and proper reporting and transparency of ESG data will allow
investors to make informed decisions. Today, ESG and sustainability is not
just an image issue, but also an opportunity for the future.
