A Polish politician and economist.
He is a graduate of the Faculty of Foreign Trade at the Warsaw School of Economics. He was a scholarship holder at the University of Duisburg. In the 1990s, he was active in the Liberal-Democratic Congress and the Freedom Union. Between 1994 and 1996, he worked at Polish Television, including as the director of Channel 1. From 1998 to 2000, he served as the director of the Press and Information Office at the Ministry of National Defense. Since 2002, he was also the vice-chairman of the supervisory board of the Polish Press Agency.
Between 1998 and 2000, he was a councilor in the Warsaw-Centrum municipality. From December 2000 to mid-2002, he was the vice-president of Warsaw. From 2002 to 2006, he served on the management board of Polish Radio, and then, until 2007, he held the position of Deputy Marshal of the Mazovian Voivodeship. In November 2007, he was appointed Secretary of State at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, and in 2011, he became the Minister of National Defense in Donald Tusk’s government. In September 2014, in Ewa Kopacz’s government, he assumed the position of Deputy Prime Minister. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Polish Parliament (Sejm). On December 13, 2023, he was appointed Minister – a member of the Council of Ministers and the Coordinator of Special Services.
