Member of the 9th term of the European Parliament
Dr. Dorien Rookmaker is a Dutch politician from the party Meer Directe Democratie and a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists group. Dorien studied political science and management studies in non-governmental organizations at the University in Groningen, The Netherlands. Dorien worked for different large financial institutions where she focused on good governance, corporate risk management and compliance. Afterwards she worked for 10 years at the Dutch railway organisation (ProRail) where she was responsible for the Risk management & Compliance policy and evaluating investments programs for new infrastructure projects. After ProRail she became a member of the board of directors at Nationale- Nederlanden, a large banking & insurance company. Dorien is political active since 2019. First as a member in the Dutch Senate (Eerste kamer) and currently as an member of the European Parliament. Dorien is a member of the ECON committee and a member of the committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN), where she is advocating the further expansion of the European High Speed Rail network, which connects all major cities of Europe.
