There has been increasing interest in climate-neutral motoring in recent years. During a debate at
TOGETAIR 2023, representatives of automotive companies discussed the challenges they face on the
the road to achieving carbon neutrality.
Paweł Wideł, director of Government Relations and Public Affairs at Stellantis, believes that achieving
carbon neutrality by their company is possible, but requires a great deal of effort and a reduction in carbon intensity by
2030 to zero. Maciej Mazur, CEO of the Polish Alternative Fuels Association (PSPA),
emphasised that in 2035 the majority of cars will be electric, which is in line with the decision taken by the
automotive industry.
According to Michal Sztorc, a journalist for PremiumMoto Automotive, electric cars are still too
expensive. However, the price of traditional cars is increasing, which makes buying combustion vehicles
are no longer profitable. Charging infrastructure is also a particular problem, but the development of this area is
is progressing rapidly.
It has been pointed out that the production of electric batteries is 90% controlled by countries
non-democratic countries. The European Union can produce around 7-9% of batteries. One of the challenges facing
manufacturers face is finding reliable suppliers of raw materials. Łukasz Blichewicz, CEO of
Assay, pointed out that this is a perspective that has changed in recent years. Europe is rapidly adapting
market to meet legislative and social requirements, and we already have the technology to move forward.
The debate clearly showed that climate-neutral motoring is a challenge, but also an opportunity for the
automotive industry. Representatives of automotive companies must act to decarbonise,
decarbonise production and find reliable suppliers of raw materials. However, the development of technology, increased
awareness and the introduction of increasingly stringent regulations make it possible to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality
