DR INŻ. MATEUSZ DAMRAT

Director of the State Geological Institute

He received his doctorate in earth sciences in geology from Jagiellonian University. He graduated in mining and geology from the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection at the AGH University of Science and Technology and in geology from the Institute of Geological Sciences at Jagiellonian University. As of October 2019, he is the director of the National Geological Institute – National Research Institute (PIG-PIB).

His previous professional experience is almost entirely related to research work in projects carried out in cooperation with Jagiellonian University, the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Finland and the State Geological Institute – PIB. Winner of the Krzysztof Beres Scholarship of the Polish Geological Society. Author and co-author of numerous scientific articles and industry studies.

On behalf of PIG-PIB, he sits on the board of directors of the Association of European Geological Services EuroGeoSurveys, participated in the implementation of the international EMODnet project, the reporting session of The Marine Geology Expert Group (MGEG) at EuroGeoSurveys, and the work of the WGEXT working group at the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES).
