MATEUSZ DAMRAT

Director of the Polish Geological Institute

Doctorate in Earth sciences in the field of geology from the Jagiellonian University. Graduate of mining and geology at the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection of the AGH University of Science and Technology and geology at the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Jagiellonian University. Since October 2019, he has been the director of the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute (PIG-PIB).

His professional experience to date is almost entirely related to research work in projects carried out in cooperation with the Jagiellonian University, the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Finland and the Polish Geological Institute – PIB. Winner of the Krzysztof Beres Scholarship of the Polish Geological Society. Author and co-author of numerous scientific articles and industry studies.

He is a board member of the Association of European Geological Services EuroGeoSurveys, participated in the EMODnet international project, a reporting session of the Marine Geology Expert Group (MGEG) at EuroGeoSurveys and activities of the WGEXT working group at the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES).
